monika schaffner
born in nepal into the context of international development, I spent my childhood at home in two worlds: the home of my birth, my soul home (nepal), and the home of my family (switzerland).
my parents are passionate hikers, so I grew up in pristine mountain spaces: hiking, sleeping in tents, playing in alpine landscapes, immersed as an innate part and in balance with nature. this sparked a deep love and care for nature in its wild, undisturbed, pristine form.
the connection to & love for nature is what drives my life and work

us human beings for the value of pristine wild mountain spaces – as valuable space for individual retreat & regeneration, as origin of rich biodiversity, and ultimately as source of all life on this planet.
that is why I dedicate my work as an integrative geographer into the protection of yet untouched alpine wilderness. and I guide individuals on retreats to silence of mountain spaces – thus creating opportunities to consciously experience the value of mountain nature while gaining insight, inspiration and regeneration.

as a guide on reconnective mountain nature retreats & himalayan journeys,
I encourage, inspire and support my guests in discovering their very own way of leading a self-empowered, meaningful life aligned with their purpose.
in the past decades, I have enjoyed many solo mountain retreats in the alps and the himalayas – drawing peace, strength, clarity – and the courage to take the most relevant decisions in my life today, I wish to share these experiences, to encourage & inspire individuals in shaping their very own path towards a meaningful, self-determined life – holistically, sustainably and in harmony with nature.
the focus of my work lies in mindfully perceiving and appreciating nature – as inspiration, mirror and nourishment for our personal development as human beings.

as integrative geographer
my key interest is to understand the world and its complex relationships in order to strengthen the connection between human beings and the natural environment.
- my place is the vantage point with the birds-eye perspective, where individual information comes together, merges and integrates to an overarching whole.
- at the same time diving deep to grasp the essence underlying all life and its relationships.
- guided by my view of the complete picture, I recognise relevant gaps, identfy disoriented pieces and integrate them into the whole.
- with a genuine, optimistic, open-hearted attitude, I sustain, nurture and hold the positive energy to bring an endeavour to success.
- having spent my childhood in a diverse and generous international community, I experience great joy in moving and working in intercultural contexts.
