beyul are remote, hidden high valleys high up in the himalayas, which had been blessed as places of refuge by the tibetan tantric master padmasambhava in the 8th/9th centuries. here the physical and spiritual worlds meet with great clarity, heightening perceptual capacity and enabling deep transformative experiences.
at certain and appropriate times, the beyul are revealed to the world: the sherpa people living in rolwaling today migrated there in the second half of the 19th century. until 1980, the valley had remained hidden from foreign visitors. sacred sites, buddhist rock monasteries, and meditation caves still bear witness to its powerful spiritual sigficance that can be felt and experienced to the present day.

this trek begins with a beautiful ascent through dense virgin forest along the wild waters of tama kosi river up to the high summer mountain pastures of na (4200 m asl). there, you spend time to acclimatise, while visiting ancient buddhist monasteries, mountain caves, sacred lakes – all sites of significant spiritual power.
crossing the yalung la pass (5500 m asl), you head south through vast and untouched himalayan landscapes, along wide ridges and through deep valleys, until you reach the mountain town of jiri, lovingly called the “switzerland of nepal”, where swiss development work began way back in the 1950ies.
you experience the power of pristine nature, as you move up through virgin jungle forest. below us, glacial waters thunder down in turquoise beauty. vast untouched mountain landscapes awaken in you a deep and divine sense of truly being. you experience the comfort of most simple accomodation, providing nothing more – but also nothing less – than your body and soul truly need: a warm welcome by hosts who generously nourish you with simple yet delicious food and provide you with a place to rest.
