tour description

kangchenjunga is the world’s third highest mountain, the eastern-most 8000m+ peak in the himalayan range. its name translates as “the five treasures of the high snow“. we will start our trek in the rural mid-hills of nepal at 800m asl, travelling through beautiful landscapes, traversing the diverse ecological levels of the himalayan slopes up to the base camp of the magnificent mountain at 5160 m. asl. from there, we continue westwards, enjoying beautiful sceneries, to cross the 5000 m high lumbasamba pass over to the arun river valley, which will bring us back to the mid-hills.

this is an extensive trekking tour through a remote region of nepal, off the beaten tourist track. so we will spend our nights partly in simple guesthouses, partly in tents, accompanied by the experienced team of rana bikesh of himalayan ecological trek. the itinerary can be shortened by approx. 1 week (further details on request).

the treasure vase

the treasure vase is an ancient symbol of psychic development, spiritual maturation and the attainment of enlightenment [r. högger, presents for buddha, tibet-institute rikon 2018 (english edition will be published in oct 2019 with vajra publications)].

with this symbol of consciousness, we start our journey through the himalayan range. the treasure vase lays the seed to my vision: that by travelling in mindful state, open to experiencing the moment, reconnecting with nature‘s beauty and the cultural depth of it‘s inhabitants‘ heritages, we raise consciousness in the spaces we travel, both inside and outside ourselves, locally and globally. in this way, we contribute to en-lightening, recognizing and revaluating these precious himalayan spaces of global relevance.
